An extension module is a device which can be attached to an IP phone to offer more programmable keys.
Grandstream offers two models of extension modules: GXP2200EXT and GBX20.
Both of the extensions modules offer 20 extensions per page with maximum of 2 pages, which offers in total, 40 extensions/contacts.
The buttons on the extension modules have a dual-color LED which can be used to quickly indicate the line status of an extension, or the SIP presence status of the extension.
Yes, you can connect the extensions in a daisy chain with up to 4 extension modules of the same model to expand the number of contacts to 160 extensions.
The configuration of the extension is done on the phone’s side, then the configuration is pushed automatically to the extension boards. To configure the extension, please refer to paths below depending on which extension board you are using.
There is no standalone firmware file for the extension modules. Their firmware is bundled in the firmware file of the IP phone. When the IP phone firmware is upgraded to a newer version and the extension module detects a newer version of its firmware, it will start the upgrade.
