Bluetooth is a proprietary, open wireless technology standard that enables the exchange of data over short distances between fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks with high levels of security. GRP Phones supports Bluetooth. On the GRP phones, users could connect to cellphones (supporting Bluetooth) via hands-free mode or use a Bluetooth headset for making calls.

This document serves as an end-user guide on how to use the Bluetooth headset and hands-free mode on GRP2614.

BASIC FUNCTIONS

Bluetooth-related settings are located under the GRP phone LCD Menu🡪 System🡪 Bluetooth. To connect to a Bluetooth device, first enable Bluetooth on your GRP phone. When using a new Bluetooth device for the first time, you must pair it with the phone to establish a secure connection. After pairing, you can easily connect to the device whenever needed.

Bluetooth Status	Displays the status of Bluetooth. When “Power” is on, the status is “Discoverable”; when Bluetooth power is off, the status is “Off”.
Bluetooth MAC	Displays the GRP phone’s MAC address of the Bluetooth interface.
Power	Configure Bluetooth to power on, off, or off with hiding menu from LCD.
Handsfree Mode	Enables/Disables Handsfree mode
Bluetooth Name	Defines the GRP phone Bluetooth name.
Start Scan	Starts to scan other Bluetooth devices in range. If a new device is found, the user could press the “Pair” soft key and enter the PIN code to pair with other Bluetooth devices.

Turn Bluetooth ON or OFF

1. Go to the GRP phone’s LCD MENU🡪System🡪Bluetooth
   
2. Highlight the Power option by pressing the Up/Down arrow key.
   
3. When the Power option is highlighted, pressing the LEFT/RIGHT arrow keys turns on/off Bluetooth.
   

Change GRP Phone Bluetooth Name

Under the Bluetooth Name option, the user can change the Bluetooth name of the GRP phone shown when discovered by other Bluetooth devices.

1. Go to the GRP phone’s LCD MENU🡪System🡪Bluetooth.
   
2. Highlight the Bluetooth Name option by pressing the Up/Down arrow keys.
   
3. Enter the desired Bluetooth name from the keypad.
   

Pairing to a Bluetooth device

Before connecting the GRP phone with other Bluetooth devices, users must pair them first. Both devices will stay paired afterwards unless they are unpaired.

1. Go to the GRP phone’s LCD MENU🡪System🡪Bluetooth.
   
2. Enter the Start Scan option
   
3. GRP phones scan and display the names of all available Bluetooth devices.
   

4. The discovered devices will show up in the scan result list with device names. If it is not paired, it will show the status “Unpaired” next to the device name. Select the wanted device, and press the “Pair” softkey to pair it with the GRP Phone. Then a window will pop up where the user can find a random PIN Code needed in the wanted device to pair it with the GRP Phone.
   

Connecting to a Bluetooth device

After successfully pairing, the GRP phone will show the status “Paired” next to the Bluetooth device name in the scan list. Select the paired device and press the “Connect” softkey.

Once connected, the GRP phone will show the status “Connected” next to the Bluetooth device name in the scan list.

Unpairing and disconnecting a Bluetooth device

In the Bluetooth settings, highlight the Bluetooth device name and press the “Disconnect” softkey. Once disconnected/Unpaired, the phone will show the status “Disconnected/unpaired” next to the Bluetooth Device Name.

Hide Bluetooth Settings from LCD

The GRP series includes a feature that allows administrators to hide Bluetooth settings from the phone’s LCD. This enhancement is designed to improve security and enforce device usage policies in environments where Bluetooth connectivity is restricted or unnecessary.

There are two methods users can follow to hide Bluetooth settings from the GRP LCD:

Method 1: Hide Bluetooth Settings Using the WebGUI

1. Access the Web UI. (Admin login required).
2. Navigate to Bluetooth Settings → Set to “Off & Hide Menu From LCD”.

3. Save & Reboot the device for changes to take effect.

Method 2: Hide Bluetooth Settings Using P-Values (Provisioning)

Users can configure the following P-values via configuration file or SSH/NVRAM commands:

• P22037 (Hide/Show Bluetooth Settings)
  • 0 = Hide Bluetooth settings
  • 1 = Show Bluetooth settings (default)
• P2910 (Alternative method)
  • 2 = Off & Hide Bluetooth from LCD

USE BLUETOOTH HEADSET

On a GRP phone, the user can answer/terminate an incoming call from a Bluetooth headset.

BT ON and BT OFF

After the Bluetooth headset is successfully connected, the GRP phone will show the “BT On” softkey on the call screen. The user may press it to activate the Bluetooth headset.

When the “BT Off” softkey shows up in the call screen and the Bluetooth icon on the status bar changes to be solid, it means the Bluetooth headset is ready to use.

When BT is on, both the Bluetooth headset and the GRP phone will alert for incoming calls. The user may answer using the button on the Bluetooth headset.

During an active call, the user may switch the audio channel between the Bluetooth headset and phone handset by pressing the “BT Off”/”BT On” softkey.
